December 4, 2020 at 3 p.m. – All-Ukrainian forum «Woman with a disability — myths and reality» will take place in the mode of ZOOM conference.
The topic of the Forum is the fact that women/girls with disabilities are in particularly unfavorable conditions (both on the basis of gender and disability). They suffer more from abuse of others, inadequate health care, and social discrimination and they need support at the legislative, public and informational levels in order to have social and legal protection, especially it is evident in the case of risk, humanitarian and environmental disasters, and now in the situation with COVID-19.
The purpose of this Forum is to draw attention of the general public at the local and state levels, women’s NGOs, human rights NGOs, other institutions to the problems of women/girls with disabilities in order to promote the rights of girls and women with disabilities guaranteed by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Ukraine and other state and international legal acts.
During the Forum, issues of social and medical protection of women/girls with disabilities, their opportunities for personal self-realization, motherhood, employment, guarantees of medical, legal, social orientation, prevention of physical and psychological violence will be discussed:
- women’s health;
- social adaptation of girls in special schools;
- problems of education and development of children with mental disorders;
- women with disabilities and COVID-19;
- a woman and diabetes;
- problems of women with disabilities living in rural and remote areas;
- family problems: mother with a disability and child with a disability;
- problems of women with disabilities who are IDPs;
- how is it to be a student in a wheelchair?;
- a woman with a disability in the boarding school;
- women with disabilities living on the contact line; etc.
The event will be held at the request of women and girls, representatives of public organizations, residents of different regions of Ukraine.
